Do you love rough and exhilarating downhill rides? Or speed-racing on roads with the pals? Or simply enjoying flat and safe cycling with the family and maybe teach your youngest how to ride? Dundee has all the options for every age and ability.
From scenic flats to strenuous hill rides, Dundee and the surrounding areas are a magnet for cyclists. There are also several bike hire options if you haven’t got your own, making life easy. Bike hire and cycling is great for groups and can easily be catered for if organised in advance.
Dundee City Council publishes a cycle map showing all the best routes for cyclists travelling around the city. The map is updated annually to reflect the development of new routes and cycle paths. Maps are widely available from Council offices, libraries and bike shops.

Cyclists are well provided for in Dundee, with a “green circular” route around the entire city, covering 27 miles. There’s helpful signing on the way, showing you points of interest and things to see.
Cycling in and around the city centre has never been easier with new cycle routes signposted to major locations such as Ninewells Hospital and the University of Dundee. These routes have been created on as many off-road or quiet roads as possible. New solar lighting has been built in to many of our cycle paths to guide cyclists on winter nights.

Buses on Bikes
Normally buses and bikes don’t mix but Stagecoach have introduced a bike friendly coastrider service (X7) connecting Perth, Dundee, Aberdeen and places in between. Why not cycle along the coast route (NR1) with the option of getting the bus back home.
